Five Generations

Named for one of the Edwards family homes, lived in by our grandparents (who were also interior designers) in the mid-20th century, SPINDRIFT takes on new life as both practice and homage. With roots that stretch over five generations on Fire Island, our work is informed by deep familiarity and lasting affection—for its vernacular forms, its shifting light, and the small, enduring gestures that give the island its soul.

We partner with homeowners, agents, and builders to reshape historic spaces with care and to shape new homes that feel timeless from the start. Whether through restoration or new construction, our goal is the same: to revitalize and anchor the native Fire Island aesthetic—creating spaces that offer respite, continuity, and a sense of belonging, season after season.

Who We Are

Ginny Edwards Maxwell

Ginny Edwards Maxwell

Born and raised on the Northside of St. Thomas, Ginny’s eye was shaped early by the rhythms of island life—salt air, shifting light, the quiet precision of craftsmanship passed down. After studying photography at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she went on to build a celebrated career in fashion, discovering and shaping the paths of some of the industry’s most recognizable names.

Her life and work have taken her through Italy, Tennessee, the Caribbean, and back to New York, but design has always been a throughline—particularly the intersection of space, texture, and memory. Having founded Seachange VI, her interior design and architecture practice based in St. Thomas, Ginny brings to SPINDRIFT a trained eye and intuitive sense of proportion to projects that reflect both their place and the people they hold.

Donna Potter Stucklen

Donna Potter Stucklen

The daughter of Fire Island watercolorist Christy Edwards, Donna was raised between the quiet shores of Long Island and the creative current of New York City. Her design career spans over fifteen years as a womenswear designer and art director, with work featured in Vogue, WWD, Porter Magazine, and exhibited at the Museo de Balenciaga in Spain. She now lives on the South Shore with her husband and their three young children.

At SPINDRIFT, Donna brings a refined design sensibility shaped by years in fashion and product development. Her approach is deeply material-driven—rooted in silhouette, texture, and tone—and guided by a strong narrative instinct. She works with care and clarity, honoring what’s already there while quietly reshaping what’s next.
